KZN duo due in court for illegal firearms
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe
The duo were arrested over the weekend in Ezakheni township in Ladysmith in connection with the death of Indaka municipal manager, Sinatra Khumalo last month.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the weapons will be taken for ballistic tests to determine whether they were used in the incident.
''It is alleged that the municipal manager was driving his vehicle along Helpmekaar Road when he was approached by three suspects who allegedly shot and killed him.
''The suspects fled the scene on foot. These recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic test to check whether they are the same firearms that were used during the killing of the municipal manager,'' he said.
The municipal council has since been placed under administration by the Co-operative Governance Department.
Allegations have been made about people within the council who might have arranged the hit on Khumalo.
