The Hawks arrested Nandi Msimang in Sandton on Sunday.

Msimang made her first appearance in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday.

Msimang's company, Mzansi Life Care, was found to have fraudulently awarded KZN Health a R32 million tender for four mobile clinics in 2016.

The KZN Hawk's Simphiwe Mhongo says they were registered under the company instead of the department.

"The contract was awarded without following the proper supply chain management processes."

Mhlongo says roadworthy certificates were not obtained by the Department, and the vehicles remained unused for three years.

He says Msimang eventually fraudulently sold them.

In May last year, the Hawks asked members of the public for help on Msimang's whereabouts.

A court issued an arrest warrant for her.

Msimang was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 17 July for bail application.

Two former department officials who have been implicated in the matter are set to go on trial in October.
