KZN disaster management on high alert amid heavy rains

KZN's disaster
management teams were put on high alert again on Tuesday.

The Midlands and the province's western region were rocked by severe thunderstorms overnight.
According to the weather office - the heavy rains will continue until Tuesday evening.
It has issued a level 2 warning for strong damaging winds, hail, and excessive lightning.
The KZN Department of Cooperative Governance says several municipalities will be affected, including Ubuhlebezwe.
The department's Siboniso Mngadi has urged residents to be vigilant.

"We also urge communities to exercise caution, avoid travelling on bridges, roads in low lying areas as they may be susceptible of floodings.
"Also, avoid outdoor activities as the lightning, hail and flooding can lead to injuries or fatalities."
