Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
KZN is still in the midst of a drought despite recent rains across the province.

Umgeni Water made the comment yesterday during a briefing in Durban on its performance during the 2015 / 2016 financial year.
Umgeni Water's Steve Gillham says recent rains have fallen mainly along the coastline and not where its needed for the catchments.
Commenting on dam levels - Gillham says as of Wednesday - Spring Grove was at 43%, Midmar 48, Albert Falls 24 and Inanda 63.

He says the increase in dam levels is due to a combination of the 15% savings and water being pumped from Spring Grove across into Midmar.
Eight provinces in SA, were declared disaster areas in June this year due to the ongoing drought with KZN being one of the worst affected areas.
