KZN CPF board chairperson gunned down outside home

KZN Community Safety MEC Sipho Hlomuka has called on police to track down the killers of the provincial CPF board chairperson.

Hlomuka says the murder of Prince Mthunzi Mathenjwa is disheartening, and they hope the police will make a breakthrough in the case soon.
Mathenjwa's been provincial CPF chairperson since 2017.
The department's spokesperson Sindiswa Hlophe says the killing has sent shock waves in the community of King Cetshwayo District, where he was known as a peacemaker.

"Mr Mathenjwa was killed, on Thursday 11 August, in the evening outside eNiwe area in eMpangeni after confronting a suspicious vehicle outside his house.
"The suspects then opened fire, leaving him dead on the scene. Mathenjwa was also a former ward councillor in the area and a political activist."
