KZN cops seize half ton of dagga in two drug busts

Police in the uThukela district have arrested 15 people in two separate operations in Amangwe and Ntabamhlophe respectively - where more than 500kg of dagga was seized.

On Saturday, police acted on intelligence-driven information regarding people who were alleged to be smuggling drugs.
They went to a house in Shayamoya Location where they found five women and three men from Lesotho busy wrapping the dagga into parcels.

The eight suspects were arrested and 264kg of dagga - with a street value of R450 000 - was seized.
Yesterday afternoon, police in Amangwe stopped a suspicious-looking minibus and upon searching it, found 39 bags of dagga, weighing around 260kg and with a street value of around R400 000.
They took seven more suspects into custody.
All fifteen suspects are due to appear in the Estcourt Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of dagga possession.
