KZN cops nab over 100 suspects in weekend operations

KZN police are anticipating spikes in crime, as the festive season approaches.

Law enforcement agencies have conducted stop and searches, raids and held roadblocks in Ilembe District and KwaDukuza this past weekend. More than 100 suspects linked to various crimes were nabbed.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker says four suspects were arrested for rape while 10 people were arrested for being in the country illegally.

A number of liquor outlets were visited and were issued with fines for not complying with the liquor act whilst 22 were arrested for dealing in liquor without a licence.
Police seized 20 dangerous weapons during the operation. Four people were arrested for being in possession of drugs as police seized, dagga and rock cocaine during the operation.
