KZN cop takes the stand for alleged rape at police station

A KwaMakhutha police officer accused of raping a woman while in police custody is appearing in the Umbumbulu Magistrate Court today.

The 34-year-old cop was arrested last night and taken to the Amanzimtoti Police Station last night.
The accused is currently facing internal disciplinary processes.
IPID's Ndileka Cola says the state will be opposing bail on this matter.

"The police officer who is suspected to have raped a 24-year-old woman in KwaMakhutha police station on the 25 September is facing charges of rape in police custody."
