KZN cop charged with perjury after losing his gun
Updated | By Doreen Loubser
A 46-year-old police official who lost his service pistol
will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Monday for falsely reporting
it as stolen.

KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says the officers will be charged with perjury and defeating the ends of justice after he opened a case earlier this month.
He says the officer claimed he was approached outside his house by three men who demanded his service pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition.

Ngcobo says during the investigation police found inconsistencies in the story and it was established that the officer had lost his gun and failed to report it to his employer.
