KZN cop accused of killing wife to remain behind bars

A KwaZulu-Natal police officer accused of murdering his wife has been remanded in custody.
School teacher Thobeka Nene was shot and killed two weeks ago in her home in Ntshanga, allegedly after an argument with her husband.
Mthokozisi Nene made a brief appearance in the Camperdown Magistrate's Court on Monday.
He's expected to apply for bail next week.

Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza led a protest by family and community members at court, urging the magistrate not to grant bail to Nene.
"The community is angry. Every NGO, stakeholder, and everyone is angry. We are saying today he cannot get away with it and we want to monitor this case,” said Khoza.
"We are going to monitor this case ad different departments [including] the Department of Education because he has robbed us of a teacher."
