KZN community urged to work with police
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe
A total of 55 officers have been killed in the country since January. Seven of them have died over the last three weeks.
Naicker says during the event there was a roll of honour for the 22 KwaZulu-Natal police officers who have been killed this year.
He says the prayer was also a means to forge a closer relationship with the community in an effort to fight crime better.
''When it comes to crime, police and community members should be on the same side and criminals on the other side. We want to work closer to forging that relationship with the community.
''The event was organised by the SAPS, the Ethekwini municipality and pastors and other role players. There are many churches from this province that have contributed to this effort,'' he said.
