KZN community upset over alleged assault of disabled child
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
The Cottonlands community, north of Durban, has been left reeling after the attempted rape of a physically challenged 10-year-old girl.
The attack allegedly occurred last week Monday at the home of a man who also runs a shop from the premises.
The girl's mother says her daughter went to the shop with friends and was lured to the man's home when he apparently promised her chips and sweets.
The suspect then allegedly attacked her but she screamed and her friends called for help. The victim's mother says her daughter is most afraid at night.
"I don't know how I can explain this but I'm feeling terrible and cross. I'm trying to talk to my child and support her through the situation," she said.
Police have confirmed that a case has been opened but the suspect is still at large.
