KZN Arts and Culture wraps first 'heritage experience' event
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
KwaZulu-Natal Arts and Culture says the department is serious about reviving the local arts industry, which was blighted by the Covid-19 pandemic two years ago.
It says events like the one it's wrapped up on the south coast are aimed at helping struggling artists and entertainers get back on their feet.
The one-of-a-kind multi-arts festival was held at Ugu's Sports & Leisure Centre.
The department's Phathisa Mfuyo says creatives from the fashion and film industries showcased their talent at the three-day event.
There were live performances from KZN's top artists and exhibitions.

"Our goal was to ensure that we showcase as many artists from across all genres as possible. The entire festival had over 100 artists who performed over three days,” says Mfuyo.
"People from all over KwaZulu-Natal came to see some of their favourite artists perform. We have to limit the numbers for the festival to 2 000 due to Covid-19 regulations.
"We are hoping that next year we'll be able to host more people from across KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and maybe internationally."
