PICS: KZN anti-rabies drive targets inland areas
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture is moving its fight against rabies inland after previously focusing on coastal areas.
MEC Themba Mthembu is launching a rabies vaccination programme in the Midlands today.
"We have been continuing with this campaign almost on a daily basis. It looks like we are now meeting the demands because of a massive effort by the department," Mthembu said.
Mthembu says officials are working hard to contain the outbreak in the province.
"We appeal very strongly to our communities to bring their dogs and cats. Wherever they have heard we are around, they need to use this opportunity to vaccinate dogs and cats," he said.

Three people, including two children, have died after contracting the disease.
