KZN anti-crime campaign to continue throughout festive season
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KZN Department of Safety has vowed to hold more raids as it attempts to clamp down on crime in the build up to the festive season.
The department’s Kwanele Ncalane says the operations will continue throughout the holidays.
"The idea is to sustain these campaigns throughout the festive season and beyond. We want to make sure that we change the picture that has been depicted that KZN is a province that is becoming a haven for criminals.
"We want to make sure that we deal decisively with the scourge in the area," he says.

Ncalane has been speaking to Newswatch after an early morning raid on nightclubs in Durban’s Point area saw nine people, believed to be illegal immigrants, arrested on Friday morning.
Officials say six people were wanted for other crimes while one suspect was found in possession of drugs and an illegal firearm.
