KZN ANCWL celebrate Zuma's birthday, pledge support
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The ANC Women's League in KZN has slammed religious leaders who have rejected President Jacob Zuma’s apology following the Concourt’s ruling on Nkandla.
The League hosted a pre-birthday celebration for Zuma at the party's provincial headquarters in Durban earlier today.
There were chants of “we support Zuma and hands off our president” at the gathering.
The league’s treasurer Barbara Thompson says they admit Nkandla is a project gone horribly wrong but that Zuma is human and therefore not perfect.
She says the religious leaders' actions go against what they preach and teach.
"They should be giving us proper leadership as leaders. Not what they are saying - coming clear and saying we do not accept his apology. Whereas, everyday they go to church had read out the Lord's Prayer.
"So where it talks about forgiveness. If they don't do that, they are compromising the whole congregation," she said.
