The ANC's Super Zuma says in the next five years they want to improve access to municipal services by increasing institutional capacity and reducing the outsouring of services.
Zuma says as the ANC government they are working to expand community works programmes.
"We have also upgraded households in informal settlements and delivered more houses and services thence to poor people. In the next five years - we want to build on these achievements - it is very important that we strengthen the local economy," he said.
He was speaking in Durban earlier today where the party announced its mayoral candidates for municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal.
Zuma says the party expects to win in the August 3 elections.
