KZN ANC denies internal crisis
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal maintains there is no crisis around its eThekwini regional conference.
At a previous media briefing, Provincial Secretary Sihle Zikalala said the conference would be held toward the end of October.
Last week, Zikalala told Newswatch the conference would now be held sometime next month.
The gathering was first held in February to elect a regional head. It was declared void after members disputed its outcome.
Speaking in Durban today, Zikalala said while they are confident that the conference will be held soon, there are challenges affecting some of the region's 103 branches.
"It is a meeting called BGM which elects delegates to a conference. For that meeting to be legitimate must have at least 51% of the membership. Those people must be in the venue at the same time. Now, you find a problem that people do come - but they come, sign then leave," he said.
