KZN ANC denies allegation of state-funded campaigns

The Inkatha Freedom Party is accusing the African National Congress in KwaZulu Natal of using state resources to fund their election campaigns.

During a campaign in Pongola - National Chairperson of the IFP, Blessed Gwala, accused the ANC of abusing state resources to fund their Nquthu by-election campaigns, and lost the ward.
Gwala says they will be watching the ANC closely.
"It is just a warning because in Nquthu the ANC-led government used state resources. We are watching who is doing what, in order to take action at a later stage after we have gathered all the information of how the ANC government has used state resources in ward seven," he said.
The ANC's Super Zuma has dismissed the allegations and says the party will do what is right for the people of Pongolo.
"We won't be intimidated, we won't be diverted by the IFP in terms of giving service to our people. We will provide services to our people whether there are elections or not," he said.
The Pongolo by-elections are set to take place next Wednesday.
