This after reports said eThekwini Municipality had invited 40 councillors to go on a luxurious boat cruise to Mozambique - said to cost R160 000.

The trip is apparently meant to be a conference at sea to explore the Blue Economy for job creation.

The ANC Youth League came out guns blazing in a statement, saying the money should instead go towards student funding.

But in a letter today, mayor James Nxumalo dismissed the reports - saying the matter had not yet been approved by the Executive Committee and no councillors had registered for the trip.

Speaking during a media briefing in Durban this afternoon, Provincial Secretary Super Zuma was adamant no ANC members will be setting foot on any boat this voter registration weekend.

"We want everybody to be on the ground this coming weekend. It's an interference with municipality matters. We are just calling all our deployees to be where we are deploying them.

"Everybody irrespective of whether you are a councillor, MP or in leadership - you will be on the ground doing ANC work," he said.

At the same time, the ANC in the province has dispelled rumours of a provincial cabinet reshuffle as well as the recalling of Senzo Mchunu as premier.

Zuma, says they are concerned about such unfounded rumours.

"We have now embarked on a process of assessing our provincial department. That might have sparked those rumours. From our side, we don't know where those rumours come from. We have never taken a decision as the ANC about any reshuffling," he said.
