KZN Agriculture MEC to visit storm-hit Kokstad
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KZN MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi has expressed concern about the impact of climate change on rural communities.
This after 22 cows were struck dead by lightning during thunderstorms in Kokstad at the weekend.
Sithole-Moloi is expected to visit the more than eight communities affected on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Mack Makhathini says recent floods that engulfed the midlands left many communities destitute and have affected farm production.

"The assessment will also include coming up with preventative measures to mitigate the effects of such disasters in the near future.
"More than eight communities were affected, including the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Research Station.
"Part of this visit will include the monitoring of affected farmers and those that were left destitute by the tragic ordeal."
