KZN Agriculture to boost anti-rabies drive
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The Department of Agriculture in KwaZulu-Natal says it will carry out a number of anti-rabies drives from next week in order to prevent the current outbreak from spreading even further.

Spokesperson Phathisa Mfuyo says vaccination and awareness programmes are ongoing.
She says drives will be held in different areas on a daily basis to maximise their reach.
"There has also been training with the Department of Health, where about 500 practitioners from both public and private hospitals and caregivers have been trained to ensure we stop the spread of rabies."

Meanwhile, the SPCA's Barbara Patrick says a sick puppy brought in to the Kloof and Highway branch on Monday was put down and tested positive for the disease.
She says anyone bitten or scratched by a stray animal, or one that has not had its vaccinations, must seek medical attention immediately.
"Make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies. If people come into contact with a dog or animal and you are worried about rabies, the animal must get tested," she said.
