KwaMashu hostels need heavy policing: expert
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
KZN violence monitor, Mary de Haas feels KwaMashu's hostels require proper intelligence driven policing.

Five people were shot dead at a hostel in A-Section on Wednesday, prompting the NFP to call for the army to be deployed to the area.
Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the shooting.
Officers cannot say at this stage how many suspects they're chasing as the incident is still under investigation.
De Haas believes proactive policing must be a priority.
"It needs good intelligence work which feeds into proactive policing. In other words, the deployment of well-armed, well-protected police with bulletproof vests or body armour to patrol. It needs good detective services," she said.
