KwaMashu Hostel murder accused given life sentences

Two men have been sentenced two life terms in prison and an additional of 54 years in jail for a double murder committed at the KwaMashu Hostel in October last year.

Sifiso Gumede (29) and Sizwe Mthiyane (34) have been convicted of the murder of Bonginkosi Biyela (29) and Sibonelo Mbanjwa (33), who were shot dead at a liqour outlet on Xolani Road.
Four other people were injured in the shooting.
The pair has also been sentenced to 30 years for attempted murder, 15 for robbery and a nine-year term for the possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
