KwaMaphumulo attacks top Community Safety agenda

Provincial government officials, police and members of the KwaMaphumulo community, north of Durban are working together to try and curb the scourge of killings in the area.
MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda convened a meeting with police, municipal officials, aMakhosi and local businesses to develop a plan to deal with crime in the area.
Yesterday's meeting follows the fatal shooting of an off-duty police officer last week.
KwaMaphumulo visible policing commander, Captain Mhlanzi was gunned down at a supermarket on Friday night.
No arrests have been made following the murder but police are following up on leads.

A local Inkosi was also shot and injured at a traditional court by an unknown man on Thursday.
MEC Kaunda says the provincial government is concerned with the number of illegal firearms in the area.
The department says 25 people have been killed in the region since April last year.
Kaunda says they want to create a plan to crack down on crime in the area while also removing rogue elements from the local police force.
