KwaMakhuta residents angered by water cuts
Updated | By Athi Tutshana
Police have restored calm to KwaMakhutha, south of Durban after a service delivery protest broke out earlier today.
A crowd of about a hundred people gathered on the D99 route between KwaMakhutha and Umbumbulu demanding that their water supply be restored.
It's unclear at this stage why their supply has been disconnected but it's understood officials from the municipality were sent to address the residents this afternoon.
They have vowed to pick up where they left off tomorrow should their water not be restored.
The police's Thulani Zwane says officers will be on standby in anticipation of more protests in the morning.
"They were blocking the road using burning tyres, stones and branches. It was not easy for road users to gain access to that road," he said.
