KwaDukuza waste collectors down tools

KwaDukuza residents whose refuse hasn't been collected can expect the situation to remain as is.

The municipality says there's currently a work stoppage - which it says is illegal.
Workers want the mayor and municipal manager to address them on Covid allowance as well as a six-day work protocol in order to cap overtime.

The municipality's Sipho Mkhize says this has also seen waste not being collected at business premises.
"As it stands, management will be meeting with affected workers as well as labour representatives to discuss how these workers return to their work stations while some of these discussions are then taken to proper channels and portfolios of council to discuss them further."
