KwaDukuza councillor accused of child rape
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The apparent inaction by police following allegations of child rape against a KwaDukuza councillor has left Department of Social Development officials baffled.

MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza has requested a meeting with police in the area.
The department's Mhlaba Memela says it's been brought to their attention that the 14-year-old girl, who would go to the councillor's home to play with his children, is now pregnant.
He says social workers, who were sent to the area, are compiling a report on their findings.
Memela says the child's family also failed to report the crime.
"We are actually going to meet with the management of the police just to understand what could have been the reason to not arrest a person in a case like this as a province we are dealing with the number of cases of gender-based violence."
It's understood that the child was paid money and that the councillor promised to pay a dowry to the family and build them a home.
