KwaDukuza ANC regional secretary gets 25-year sentence for murder

The ANC's leadership in KZN is expected to convene this week to chart a way forward following the sentencing of its KwaDukuza regional secretary for murder.

Musa Zondi and his five co-accused were handed 25-year terms by the Pietermaritzburg High Court last week.
They had been convicted of kidnapping, assault and murder following the death of a Kranskop man in 2015.
Leaders are expected to set aside time at this week's Provincial Executive Committee meeting to discuss a replacement.
"As the ANC, we have not been faced a situation like this so there is really no protocol in place at the moment on how you proceed on the matter. However, there are constitutional issues that the situation is raising for those who will have to be dealt with by a structure," the ANC's Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu said.
