Kruger staff receiving counselling following shooting
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Traumatised workers at the Kruger National Park are undergoing counselling after a field ranger was killed during a shootout with poachers earlier this week.
There have been no arrests since Thursday’s incident at Crocodile Creek, in the reserve’s southern region. A doctor was flown in to treat the ranger but he died on the way to the hospital.
SANPark's Isaac Phaahla says the identity of the man has not been released, as his next of kin is yet to be informed of the deadly attack.
"Our management will be visiting Crocodile Creek to offer support to the colleagues that were there", he said.
"We have also arranged counselling for the immediate family as well as for the colleagues who were on scene when the incident happened", Phaahla said
