Kokstad violent protest: 11 due to appear in court

Eleven people are due to appear before the Kokstad Magistrate's Court today after they were arrested on charges of malicious damage to property.
Today marks four days since violent protests broke-out in the area.
A total of 50 people have been arrested in that time.

The National Prosecuting Authority says of the 13 people detained yesterday, two were juveniles and released back into to their parents' care.
The NPA's Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says the 37 others remain in custody.
''They were remanded into custody until May 26 for the final bail application. They are charged with public violence,'' she said.
