Koko, co-accused granted bail in Kusile corruption case

A court in Mpumulanga granted bail of up to R300 000 to those implicated in a 2 billion rand fraud case over alleged dodgy Eskom contracts.

The NPA's fingered Eskom's former boss Matshela Koko and his family in its investigation into corruption, fraud, and money laundering.
The eight detainees were hauled before a Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday, hours after their early morning arrests in Gauteng and Mpumulanga.
Koko, who is Eskom's former chief executive, his wife and two stepdaughters have been implicated in the matter together with former Salga chief executive Thabo Mokwena.
A senior Eskom official and project director at the Kusile Power Station Hlupheka Sithole also lined up in court.

The NPA's Investigating Directorate alleges that Koko influenced and abused his position in a closed tender process to build Kusile.
He and his family face allegations of benefiting through money laundering via the multibillion-rand contract.
Koko was granted bail of R300 000.
Bail for his co-accused was set from at least R70 000.
The matter returns to court on the 23rd of March.
