King Shaka drug bust suspect behind bars

The 36-year-old woman who was allegedly found in possession of liquid cocaine at King Shaka Intentional Airport, north of Durban remains behind bars.

She was arrested on Saturday.

It is believed the woman had stored the drugs in a shampoo bottle, hidden in her luggage.

She had been on a flight from Dubai.
SAPS spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe says local authorities were acting on intelligence that the had received on the possible movement of drugs through the facility.

The cocaine is said to have an estimated street value of R4-million.

"We can confirm that the woman was arrested and charged with dealing and for being in possession of drugs," said Mathe.

Mathe says the suspect appeared before the Verulam Magistrate's Court and was remanded back into custody.

She is due in court again on the 6th of August, 2019 for a formal bail application.
