The Anti-Drug Forum says it’s concerned about the conviction rate in cases involving drug manufacturing and dealing.
The forum’s been commenting after drugs with a street value of around R2-million were seized in Phoenix, north of Durban yesterday.
Three people were arrested in the joint operation involving SAPS and Durban Metro Police.

Heroin capsules, mandrax tablets, cocaine and ecstasy pills were recovered. Some R60 000 in cash, ammunition and an unlicensed firearm were seized.
The forum’s Sam Pillay says the hard work going into making drug busts and arrests is often not equally met in the courts.
"These guys work very hard to get the arrests done with large quantities. We are not finding the court doing their part to the best of their ability. The last time there was a bust worth millions in Springfield - the guys got bail of R5000. I hope that doesn't happen again. So we are worried about what happens after the arrest."
