King Misuzulu on GBV: 'Most citizens live in fear'
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
King Misuzulu says South Africa is besieged by gender-based violence.

He gave an address at the official opening of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.
The King last year led a men's march in Durban, calling for an end to the scourge.
"As your king, I sadly acknowledge that I am in a province and a country where most citizens live in fear, where day-by-day at home, work, school and streets avoid those who are supposed to be partners and protect us and who are supposed to be sources of comfort."
The King has endorsed the Ingonyama Rural Development Forum.

He says the initiative, founded by his late father, King Zwelithini, aims to put rural and traditional communities at the forefront of economic development.
"The uniqueness of the forum's approach is that it intends to drive the process of rural development in three points.
"The first point is traditional institutes in all their different forms and level should drive rural development."
