Economic Development MEC and ANC provincial chairperson Siboniso Duma interrupted Zulu traditional prime minister Thulasizwe Buthelezi's speech after he made comments about the ANC at the event to honour King Dinuzulu.

Buthelezi is an IFP NEC member.

In a statement on Friday afternoon, King Misuzulu has described MEC Siboniso Duma's behaviour towards his traditional prime minister as unbecoming, provocative and un-African.

The monarch says its entrenched in the Zulu tradition that people should be allowed to express themselves.

He says anyone who prevents another person from exercising their right to speak, irrespective of their message, is attacking the values of the Zulu nation.

The King has applauded Buthelezi, saying he responded with calmness to Duma's actions.

He believes the MEC's behaviour was aimed at provoking and humiliating the traditional prime minister.

King Misuzulu says he has noted the comments about the recognition of the role of Traditional Prime Minister.

He says this does not only sit well with him, but also does not encourage unity and peace in KwaZulu-Natal.
