King Cetshwayo water woes: IFP wants Sisulu to step in
Updated | By Dineo Mphahlele
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has written to the Water and Sanitation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu - asking her to urgently step in to help the communities in the King Cetshwayo District that have been without water.
According to the party, 25 Wards in five municipalities including Mthonjaneni and Nkandla - have gone without water for over two weeks - with some residents protesting.
It says these communities have been relying on water tankers because of poor or unmaintained infrastructure – or none at all.
Water provision for most of these areas is the responsibility of the district municipality.
IFP spokesperson for Water and Sanitation in Parliament, Xolani Ngwezi says he confronted the district mayor on Wednesday.

"She said they will investigate what's the problem, but there is nothing to investigate. There has been no water since the inception of the municipality.
"We are really in a crisis and not only in the areas mentioned, but so many areas are also having problems under King Cetshwayo except for uMhlathuze it is better."
Ngwezi explains what they want Minister Sisulu to do.
