Kganyago to lead central bank for another 5 years

Lesetja Kganyago will lead the South African Reserve Bank for another five years.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has reappointed him as governor, effective from November this year.
The Presidency says keeping Kganyago at the helm will ensure continuity and institutional stability at the bank.
Ramaphosa has also reappointed Nomfundo Tshazibana and Rashad Cassim as deputy governors.

Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says they have also appointed a replacement for Kuben Naidoo, whose term as deputy governor ended last year.
President Ramaphosa has appointed Dr Mampho Modise as the central bank's new deputy governor for a period of five years with effect from 1 April 2024.
"The president has expressed his gratitude to former deputy governor Naidoo for his contribution to the Reserve Bank and wishes Dr Modise well in her new role," says Magwenya.
