#KessieNair prepares for new bail bid

Kessie Nair, who was previously convicted of fraud, was arrested last month on charges of crimen injuria and contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act.

He was last week refused bail last week. Earlier this month - the court ordered that he be sent for a psychiatric assessment.

Nair's attorney, Chris Gounden today told the court that he intends on bringing a new bail application based on new facts. 

At this stage, we don't know exactly what these new facts are and Gounden's opted not to disclose them to the court today but said he will furnish the state with the information before Nair's next appearance which has been provisionally scheduled for next week. 

The defence intends on bringing an application for the magistrate who heard Nair's initial bail application to recuse herself from the case.
