Kaunda outlines plan to tackle corruption within eThekwini

eThekwini Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda has outlined the City's plan to put an end to irregular expenditure and hold officials implicated in fraud and corruption accountable.
He was speaking at a briefing on Tuesday at the City Hall on his first year in office since taking over from Zandile Gumede.
"Early warning systems to detect irregular expenditure before it incurs. Apply consequence on officials implicated in wrongdoing.
"Weekly meetings with the senior management to access the progress on the implementation of these plans. Reduce over-reliance on consultancy and develop solid and credible contract management systems.

"Appointment of supply chain management specialist in all line functions departments to support the work that is done by units."
Kaunda's also promised action against officials who've mismanaged the City's COVID-19 relief funds.
"We will support all the work by our law enforcement agencies to uncover any wrongdoing and we want all those who will be implicated by the report to face the full might of the law."
