Kaunda: Durban port congestion issue being addressed

eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda insists the city is working to ease congestion at the Durban port.

He hosted the annual CEOs' Forum at Moses Mabhida Stadium where de-congestion and port expansion were discussed.
Kaunda says the municipality and private sector will work together to deal with other economic and social challenges facing Durban.

"The issue of infrastructure after the floods which there is work-in-progress and there are many plans that are in motion in terms of responding to disasters.
"We are going to open all our beaches, out of 23 only 18 are fully operational, but we are anticipating that by the time we have our summer holidays all beaches will be fully operational."
Last month, the Transnet National Ports Authority commissioned the Prince Edward Graving Dock pump house station.
TNPA says it will improve the docking and undocking turnaround time in order to attract more vessels into the facility.
