eThekwini Municipality mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda says even though the city's beaches are currently busy, it's been incident-free so far.
In a statement, Kaunda says during the long weekend of 16th to the 21st of December, the city had over one million visitors and there were no incidents reported.
The mayor made the remarks after conducting a walkabout at the city's beachfront on Thursday.
He says he found that most people were wearing their masks and adhering to Covid-19 regulations.
"We wish to appeal to everybody who is here in eThekwini, let us behave responsibly so that we cannot continue to have more cases, we all adhere to the rules of Covid-19 and ensure that we do not consume liquor in public places where it is not allowed and ensure that when we drive our cars, we really drive with the limit that our laws dictate.
