Teffo, who represented four of the five accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, has accused Maumela of using muthi on him, and bewitching him with a sangoma who was present in court.

Maumela responded on Tuesday during court proceedings meant to decide on the legal representation of the four accused following Teffo’s decision to withdrawn from the case.

Maumela told the court he was aware of the claims made by Teffo.

“There are times when I am getting communication about this case. I am getting to learn about the communication sometimes on billboards when I am driving wherever of a particular publication with a label which informs you about what is next to happen."

“One needs to say this, I have a physician whose name is Jesus. And he needs no augmentation, and it might not be a story for today. Even before I came today, I consulted my physician.

"When I leave here, I will consult my physician. I should also not make my physician anyone’s physician. My physician does not make me better than any other person but makes me better than myself every day.”

In yet another dramatic twist last week, Advocate Teffo wrote to state prosecutor George Baloyi saying he was still the legal counsel for the four accused.

Instructing attorney TT Thobane has since distanced himself from Teffo and will in future represent the accused.

The trial against the five men accused of killing the former Bafana Bafana captain will proceed in September.
