Jozini crash: Driver abandons bail

The driver of the truck that was involved in a fatal crash in Jozini, in northern KwaZulu-Natal has abandoned his bid for bail.

Sipho Ntuli is facing charges of drunken driving and culpable homicide.
The 43-year-old – who was driving a heavy-duty combination truck - lost control of the vehicle - ploughing into several pedestrians and cars near the Jozini Clinic last week Wednesday.
Eight people were killed, and 32 others were injured.
KwaZulu-Natal NPA spokesperson, Natasha Kara says Ntuli made a brief appearance in the Ubombo Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
"The accused has abandoned his application for bail. The matter was remanded to 28 July for further investigations," she says.
