Johan Booysen probe to begin upon formal complaint: Cele
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Police Minister Bheki Cele says investigations into an alleged plot to kill Johan Booysen will only begin once formal submissions are made to his offices.
DA MP Dianne Kohler-Barnard made a shock revelation in Parliament last month when she revealed that she had confirmation there was a planned hit on Booysen - the former head of the Hawks in KZN.
The minister responded to questions around the allegations and - specifically - any subsequent police investigations at a press briefing in Durban, yesterday.
"I"m not aware of any formal submission of this information- except getting it in Parliament. Unless and until there's a formal submission on the structures - then a formal investigation will take place then," he said.

But the minister says as far as he knows, Kohler-Barnard does intend to make such submissions.
"I know that she intends to that - but we don't have the evidence that it has been submitted. IWe are waiting for the submission. If and when it formally comes - surely we will able to deal with the matter," he said.
