President Cyril Ramaphosa made that promise during his State of the Nation Address last night

He says the rand has improved recently and investor confidence is moving up.

Ramaphosa says they’ll work towards reducing the country’s debt and unemployment levels - among other things.

He says a jobs summit is on the cards.

"The summit will look at what we need to do to ensure our economy grows and becomes more productive, that companies invest on a far greater scale and that our economic infrastructure is also expanded," Ramaphosa says.

SA's president has issued a stern warning to corrupt government officials.

Cyril Ramaphosa says their days are numbered.

Corruption and state capture have been the buzzwords in the country recently, after Hawks officials raided Gupta compounds and arrested eight people.

Deputy chief justice, Judge Raymond Zondo will preside over an inquiry into state capture.

Ramaphosa said last night corruption and bribery won’t be taken lightly.

"The Commission is critical to ensuring that the extent and nature of state capture is established, that confidence in public institutions is restored and that those who are responsible for any wrongdoing should be identified. The Commission itself should not displace the regular work of the countries law enforcement agencies in investigating and prosecuting any acts of corruption," Ramaphosa says.
