Jewellery store owner calls for police security after deadly robbery
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The owner of a Ballito jewellery store that was targeted yesterday says authorities should be doing more to protect businesses such as his.

Police say at least five robbers - including two who were dressed as police officers - entered Cherry Design Jewellery at Ballito Junction and assaulted a security guard.
They then demanded the keys to the cabinets and a safe - before taking watches, rings, cellphones and cash.
Officers investigating the robbery were led to a house in Inanda later.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says two of the suspects were shot dead during a shootout.

"Three licensed firearms and ammunition were seized from the deceased suspect. An investigation continues - another three suspects are still outstanding," Mbhele said.
Store owner, Kyle Cherry says yesterday was the fifth time his chain had been targeted in the Greater Durban area in two years.
"We have cameras, security guards, gates from the front of the store, they can try station officers at specific malls. Instead of the mall having to run the no armed security, there'll be police. They are armed and they are the prevention unit to keep people safe," Cherry said.
