Jailed eThekwini cllr still getting paid: DA
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The DA in eThekwini is calling for the dismissal of one of the city's ward councillors who is still getting paid while sitting in jail.

Muzimuni Ngiba was arrested in May last year for the alleged murder of his predecessor Siyabonga Mkhize in the run-up to the 2021 local government elections.
Ngiba is a councillor in ward 101 in eThekwini.
"What we are concerned about is that there is an elected public representative who is in jail and not serving his community, but still getting a salary from the same ratepayers in eThekwini,” says the DA's Thabani Mthethwa.
“Public representatives are elected to serve their communities and in the absence of them serving their communities, they should sieze to be public representatives. We are pushing for councillor Ngiba to be fired and for a vacancy to be declared to a new coucillor in thar ward."
In a statement released, eThekwini municipality says it's in the process of finalising the matter, and that a report will be tabled at the next council meeting.
