I've run all my life and am hardly ever sick: 80-year-old Comrades runner

An 80-year-old runner says he will stop at nothing to become the oldest person to complete the Comrades Marathon.
Alf Burgess says he has been running since he was a child.

Burgess says Comrades legend, Wally Hayward has always been his hero and is the main reason he continues to run."It is just the love of the sport, I've run all my life - even when I never used to run Comrades I was always fit, I would always go for a run," he said.
"It is an addiction, and you are healthy. I am hardly ever sick. I think I'm still quite strong."
The 2019 'Up Run' takes place this Sunday.
Thousands of athletes will make the gruelling trek from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.
Registration takes place from Thursday until Saturday at the Durban Exhibition Centre and Comrades Marathon House in Pietermaritzburg.
