Isipingo Lagoon pollution source identified

eThekwini's reprioritising the City's budget to complete flood repairs across the municipalit
Water and sanitation teams, still busy with repairs to infrastructure damaged in the April floods, have another problem on their hands, pollution.

Aaron Mfunda, the Deputy Head of Department, says two pump stations have been identified as the cause of the pollution in the Isipingo Lagoon, south of Durban.
Last week, piles of dead fish washed up on the lagoon's banks where the water had turned black from pollution.
"We are trying to mobilise all the resources, both external and internal, to try and expedite repairs. You might have seen in other areas where action is happening."

“We are hoping we the speed and the resources that we are putting on the ground we will come right in terms of expediting the repairs on our infrastructure."
